Introduction to Web-Based Software

No software to install & no hardware means time and money saved.
Back in 1997, Marketpoint was probably the first to develop this breakthrough approach for major corporates to centralise their sales and marketing database in an outsourced solution.

As there is no hardware or software to install, our applications are accessible anywhere in the world using a standard Web browser, minimal training is required, and implementation can be completed in days - unlike the months or years required by conventional CRM products.

Because all the software and data reside on our own central database servers, we take full responsibility for the availability and integrity of our products. At no additional charge, we provide all post-sale system administration, maintenance, upgrades and other services required to keep our solution up and running at optimal performance levels - services that in conventional CRM implementations would have required dedicated IT resources, exponentially increasing the total cost of ownership. And because our solution is delivered via a Web browser from central application servers, system upgrades and even company specific customisations are delivered instantly and transparently to every user.

Security Measures

Our security measures include the following:

- Expert team of experienced, professional engineers and security specialists dedicated to round-the-clock protection of data and systems
- Continuous deployment of proven, up-to-date firewall protection, SSL encryption, and other security technologies, including proprietary products developed specifically for Salespoint
- Complete redundancy throughout the entire Salespoint Online Infrastructure architecture
- Total commitment to a secure, scalable, private system (Unlike a hosted system arrangement, Marketpoint manages all aspects of its operations.)

Physical Security

Our premises are protected by an ADT alarm system, directly connected to local Police back up. Various strategically positioned UPS systems ensure that our servers and phone systems are running continuously.

Network Security

Between our systems and the outside world stand 2 firewalls, SSL security certificates as well as intelligently implemented shares and password encryption. One of the firewalls is hardware based (NAT) whilst the other is software based, using a world-renowned Microsoft product. Network activity is continuously logged to proactively identify and prevent security threats.

Data Encryption

Salespoint makes use of the industry standard 128 bit SSL Security model to ensure that data is safe in transmission at all times. This of course also applies to the online purchase of Salespoint, protecting your personal information.

User Authentication

Users are given a username and password combination to login into Salespoint. The transmission of this is encrypted via SSL. Users are encouraged to regularly change their passwords, and passwords are monitored for security suitability.

Application Security

The software model Salespoint is based on, provides robust security from issues arising in instances of data compromisation. User sessions are easily trackable and identifiable, and the model is consistently employed throughout a user's session.

Internal Systems Security

Inside the firewall protection, our network is protected by NAT, port re-direction, non-routable IP addressing schemes and intelligently deployed shares, permissions and personal firewalls. The network machines are regularly updated with security patches, anti virus definitions and other important updates.

Server Management Security

Data entered into Salespoint is owned by the client. 90% of Marketpoint employees do not have direct access to the underlying data - only the technical department can administer requests concerning underlying client data. This is necessary for routine maintenance, monitoring and back-up tasks, although much of this is now done automatically. No managed service providers are used.

Reliability and Backup

Two Internet connections provide a 99.99% average uptime. Should our primary internet connection fail, a seemless transition to the backup connection will occur automatically. Server uptime is monitored 100% of the time, with alerts via email and SMS.

All client data is stored on a dedicated server. Other dedicated servers are in place for our Web Applications, backups, file storage and email.

All client data, up to the last committed transaction is backed up to DAT media nightly. The DATs are removed from the building on a daily basis and stored in fire proof safes. Disaster Recovery plans are in place.
